My family migrated to Honolulu HI from Australia, and I am currently bridging US clinical qualifications under supervision . I have 35 years of counseling experience, and hold credentials in acute stress management, sexology, and PTSD. I have specialized experience with women regaining their personal and relationship confidence after past child or adult abuse.

I provide a safe space for clients to find themselves again. Gently working together as a team, a therapy plan that considers all of who you are is our collaborative aim. Some like to sit in silence and take time to feel comfortable. Others work towards reintegration via practical self-help skills, exposure therapy, or role play.

Hey, y'all, I'm Marisol, and I am ecstatic to be here. My goal as a mental health practitioner is to provide clients with a space where they feel safe enough to heal while empowering them to grow and learn what they are capable of. I seek to deliver empathetic understanding and honest reflection in a compassionate and logical approach. I specialize in mindfulness, meditation and helping people develop and implement self-care plans. My most profound belief is that we cannot take care of others if we are not taking care of ourselves.

My first academic loves were Chemistry and Nutrition, and via a convoluted and winding path, they led me to Mental Health Counseling. I earned my bachelor's degree in human environmental science with a minor in food and nutrition from The University of Alabama. My path led me to the Middle East, around the United States, and eventually to South America as a Stress Management Coach for a private school community. From there, I found counseling and decided to finish my Master's. I am completing my clinical mental health counseling master's with the University of West Alabama. I live in Poulsbo, Washington, with my husband of 26 years, my two nonbinary kids, our two boxers, and Mefistofeles, the one-eyed cat. We are a genuinely goofy bunch who enjoy cooking, gaming, and live-action-role-playing together.

My approach to therapy is open-minded, collaborative, inclusive, warm, and authentic. I encourage my clients to show up as their authentic selves with the intention to form a trusting therapeutic relationship with them. I aim to walk alongside my clients in their journeys- healing, pattern-breaking, exploration of self, relationship issues, or whatever their journey may look like. I pull from many theoretical orientations and personally tailor my approach to each individual client, as therapy is not a “one size fits all.” I find value in community, connection, and laughter in my daily life and believe these values to be vital in therapy as well. 

I graduated from Clemson University with a BA in psychology and a minor in English. (Go tigers!) I then moved 3,000 miles cross country and am now a third-year master of education in clinical mental health counseling student at Seattle University and intern at No Stress No Stigma. De-stigmatizing mental health has been a long-time passion of mine, now turned career. My own journey has influenced my career choice - as I have experienced firsthand the positive impacts of therapy. 

Outside of work and school, I enjoy being in the sun (Seattle winters have been a bit of an adjustment,) being out on the water as much as I can, spending time with my friends, snuggling with my cat, Peppy, cooking new recipes, and reading a good book!

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Washington and am pursuing my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a focus in Child and Adolescent Psychology from National University. My love for psychology began when I took an AP Psychology course in high school. I was fascinated with how the mind worked, human behavior, and how people interacted with each other. I was actually originally pursuing an MD to become a Pediatric Psychiatrist. As I went through the 2 Years I spent in medical school, I soon realized that the band-aid solutions provided in the medical field didn’t sit right with me. I wanted to treat the root cause and I knew at that moment that medicine wasn’t the route for me.. Right after I left medical school, I immediately began applying to MFT Master’s programs so that I could help people by conducting therapy and viewing clients from a holistic approach. Additionally I am a Punjabi Sikh female, and there is also a huge stigma around mental health in my culture. This drives my want to give back to and help my community. I’m also a kind, outgoing person who loves connecting with others and hearing what their stories are in a way that makes them feel seen, heard and not judged. 

I am all about therapy being person-centered and I am most interested in conducting therapy with a narrative approach. I believe that this approach is helpful in helping others see how there are positives in life despite what hardships they may be experiencing. The journey to healing is a beautiful thing and our stories can be re-written to aid in our healing.

I take a trauma-informed, holistic approach to counseling that starts with unconditional positive regard and a person-centered therapy approach to better understand my clients. I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship where empathy, genuine curiosity, and collaboration are at the forefront. My approach integrates a variety of therapeutic techniques—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Feminist Therapy Approach, and mindfulness-based and psychoeducation techniques—to tailor our work to your unique needs. Although I feel a particular connection working with neurodivergent adolescents and adults, those who have past-experiences of trauma or abuse, and individuals who wish to explore issues through a Feminist Therapy lens, I value and honor the diversity of my clients and appreciate working with anyone that feels I could be beneficial in their healing journey. I believe in the transformational power of the therapeutic relationship. We all face overwhelming or confusing times in our lives, where we may feel like we can’t catch a break, or that no one understands what we’re going through. Sometimes we just need support to think over big decisions. Whatever the circumstances, having someone on our side while we explore our thoughts, feelings, and needs can make all the difference.

Counseling is not a one-size-fits-all intervention; each person has their own path to walk, and their own unique set of values and beliefs to guide them. My role as a counselor is not to judge or direct, but rather to notice what is attempting to unfold in a person’s life, and to support the client as that process takes place.

My approach to therapy is highly relational, informed by my education in existential, narrative, CBT, and psychodynamic approaches. I can offer parts work, narrative exploration, and attachment-based frameworks in our sessions. Guided by my deep belief in the somatic and spiritual aspects of mental health, I have also begun exploring Jungian psychology and invite your dreams, visions, and impulses into the therapy room as well.

I have experience treating conditions such as depression and anxiety, as well as working with neurodiverse populations, people with disabilities, aging populations, and adult survivors of interpersonal violence. I am passionate about issues of culture, racial justice, sexuality, gender, non-traditional relationships, and kink exploration, as well as supporting clients who have experienced spiritual or religious trauma.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Washington State University after feeling lost and changing my major many times.  After spending 8 years as a military wife and mother to two small children, I finally learned the source of my own mental health struggles when I was late diagnosed as Autistic with ADHD.  My own counseling experience inspired me to join this community as a passionate advocate for understanding your true self and living as authentically as possible.  I am now a second-year graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Bellevue University and I am so excited to be on this journey.  

When I’m not focused on mental healthcare, I feel most at home when I’m outdoors with my family doing things like crabbing, hiking, mushroom-foraging, and fossil hunting.  Together, we raise chickens and rabbits, and I relax in my flower and veggie garden.  I also love to cook, read a good book, and travel, finding good food along the way.

Hello! My name is Kim Marshall. I am so excited to be here at No Stress No Stigma! My ultimate goal as a counselor is to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools that works best for them to assist in navigating through the ups and downs of life. I believe that all humans have the capability and desire for positive change in their lives. I highly respect, accept, and value each individual’s ability to make meaningful decision in their lives. I take a collaborative role with clients, and believe that individuals are the expert in their lives. My counseling approach is centered and tailored to each individual’s unique needs and circumstances. My therapeutic approach is based in humanistic, person-centered, and evidence-based practices, such as CBT, DBT, and trauma- informed modalities. 

I am currently in my final year as a Clinical Mental Health graduate student at Western New Mexico University. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Arizona State University. Before beginning my journey towards becoming a Mental Health Counselor, I was a middle school teacher. I largely worked with students that had experienced trauma, and as a result were placed in Social/ Emotional school programs. I bring a diverse background to my work as a clinician; from volunteering with young adults experiencing homelessness, to my work at UW Medicine where I’ve supported mental health interventions for high school students across Washington State and provided support to cancer patients undergoing major surgeries.
